Wrong answer mentioned for one question in week-6 quiz

Hi,

Please refer below image:

I calculate median for this problem and it is 50
=> 11+8+16+12+18+15+19=99
Because total n is an even number so median is (n+1)/2
=> median = (99+1) / 2 = 50

But by default we assume that left side value is included in bin so in this case, n=50 will present on bin 50-60.
so our mdian become 54.5.

But given answer is 44.5 which is wrong in this case

@shalom2727,
44.5 is correct.
Don’t confuse 50th item with value 50.
There are totally 99 items.
Hence the median is (99+1)/2 th item. i.e. 50th item.
Now find where is 50th item - by cumulatively counting until you reach 50.
i.e. 11 + 8 + 16 + 12 + 18 = 65
So the bar you select is 40 - 50.
Hence the median is the mid point of 40 - 49.
i.e. (40 + 49)/2 = 44.5

Hope this clarifies.
